Pet Information

Some properties, but not all, are willing and able to rent to people with one adult dog or one adult cat. The animal must be a minimum of one year of age; must be spayed/neutered; must be current with all vaccines; live indoors (no outdoor cats or dogs); must be on year-round flea and tick protection; and must have all the above requirements verified in writing by the dog or cat's veterinarian.

Dogs may be subject to weight restrictions, depending on the property or unit. Dogs are subject to breed restrictions; a list of aggressive-breed dogs is below. We are not able to rent to people with aggressive-breed dogs.

Fish tanks may not exceed twenty gallons; one fish tank per household, where permitted.

Current tenants who wish to add a new pet to their household must first get approval from our office to ensure the property allows pets and add the pet to their lease. Please contact us for more information.

Fees:

Upon approval, a $300 non-refundable Pet Fee is required. An additional rent payment of $50 per month is also required.

All pet owners must sign a Pet Addendum that will become part of the lease.

Aggressive Breed Dogs:

Due to restrictions with serious consequences regarding insurance coverage, we are unable to rent to people with the following breeds of dog:

• Pit Bull and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• German Shepherd and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Chow Chow and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Akita and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes, including Shiba Inu
• Boxer and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Presa Canario and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Rottweiler and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Mastiff and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Husky and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Doberman Pinscher and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Wolf-hybrid and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Rhodesian Ridgeback and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Shar Pei and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Belgian Malinois and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes
• Malamute and all similar breeds, sub-species and mixes

The decision to allow or prohibit a particular breed of dog not included on this list will be made at sole discretion of Leslie and Associates.

Gender, age, and disposition are not considered; dogs mixed with aggressive breeds are also prohibited. If requested, it is the responsibility of the pet owner to show verification of the dog’s breed(s).

Brother Wolf Animal Shelter (Adoption Center, 31 Glendale Avenue, Asheville, 828-505-3440) is an excellent resource for a new dog or cat! They take great care of them, you can adopt one that meets our age, breed, and weight requirements (if necessary), and give a good, little pet a good and loving home.

We are not able to rent to ferrets, rabbits, rats, rodents of any type, lizards, farm animals, tarantulas, snakes, or any other type of exotic pet.
